The storms and rain that are remnants from Tropical Storm Erin are still plaguing the Midwest.

More than 1,000 houses have been flooded out on Thursday. In Ohio alone, over a thousand homes have been severally damaged and in need of repairs.

The flooding was waist deep in up by Findlay and Ottawa, Ohio. Rescuers waded and canoed through the water to get to stranded people and pets.

Lightning killed a mother and child in Madison, Wisconsin when it strung a pole next to the bus stop where they were waiting. Another individual also died trying to save the pair.

In Mansfield, Ohio, flood water knocked over a gas can in a man's garage. The vapors reached the pilot light of a water heater, igniting a fire which killed the man.

The flooding may be causing most destruction in Northern Ohio, but the heat advisory temperatures in the upper 90's for Thursday are smoldering Dayton and the rest of Central and Southern Ohio.
