If the .NET framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 update for Microsoft will install but upon reboot keeps reappearing it is more than likely that .NET framework 1.1. To correct this problem you must follow these steps:

1.) Download Windows Install Cleanup Utility and run. This is used to remove all other version of .NET Framework.

After that you are ready to update your computer.
If you use quicken you will want to download the update .NET Framework 2.0 for your computer. This is because quicken will not open without this update. You can do this by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Good Luck!
