President Bush spoke to United Nations General Assembly Tuesday in New York. Bush issued a "challenge of conscience" to U.N. members, urging them to defend basic human rights around the globe and increase the battle against repressive regimes, including Iran.
Bush also announced rigid new sanctions against the military rulers of Myanmar/Burma, who deny freedoms of speech, assembly, and religion to its people.
In his speech, the President also singled out Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Iran, Cuba, and Zimbabwe as countries that violate human rights.
Bush urged that the U.N. send the promised troops to Darfur to restore peace to the Sudan region.
Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is set to speak later Tuesday.
