A new security thread has been approved for the $100 Ben Franklin bill in an attempt to thwart counterfeiters, who have become more technology advanced in the last couple of years.

In fact, the $100 bill is most frequent target of counterfeiters outside the U.S..

The process will use micro-printing with 650,000 tiny lenses for each bill to magnify the micro-printing.

The images on the bill appear to move side to side and up and down.

Crane & Co. has the $46 Million contract for the project. The bills are expected to be in circulation late next year.
